Windows 11 System requirement and features explained

Microsoft has unveiled Windows 11 and it is set to arrive in Fall 2021. Again Windows 11 will be free to download if you’re already using Windows 10, and your device meets the minimum system requirement for Windows 11. Microsoft’s redesigned operating system comes with some handy features that include new widgets panel which can show the weather, stocks, news and other things. Allow install and use Android apps, via the Amazon Appstore, brand new Microsoft Store, snap layouts, virtual desktop and more. Here is what we know so far.

Windows 11 system requirement

Microsoft official has published a list of minimum hardware requirements for install windows 11. That includes at least 4 gigabytes of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 720p display larger than 9 inches diagonally.

Processor: 1GHz or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip

RAM: 4GBStorage64GB or larger storage device

System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable

TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0

Graphics card: compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver

Display: HD (720p) display greater than 9 inches diagonally, 8 bits per color channel

Internet connection and Microsoft account: For Windows 11 Home edition: internet connectivity; Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use

For all Windows 11 editions: internet access to perform updates and to download and use some features; Microsoft account for some features

Windows 11 release date

Officially, Microsoft does not give a release date for the operating system, limiting itself to the wording “at the end of the year.” Windows 10 owners will be able to upgrade to Windows 11 for free — the update will be distributed to compatible devices in stages via Update Center, similar to other updates.

How to Install Windows 11 preview build?

The official release of Windows 11 could be sometime in fall 2021 (no exact date has been announced yet). But if you’re already using Windows 10, then you can test an early version of Microsoft’s new OS (windows 11) now. Here is how to enroll windows 11 preview build on your computer.

  • Press Windows key + I to open settings then go to settings,
  • Now click on update and security than Windows Insider program
  • Click on get started, and then register or sign in with Microsoft account
  • Under the “Pick your Insider settings” section, select the Dev Channel or Beta Channel option and Click the Confirm button.
  • Accept or agree to the terms and conditions then restart your computer,
  • Again open settings using windows key + I then hit the check for updates button.

Windows 11 features

With Windows 11 Microsoft completely redesigned the operating system that comes with major changes and new additions. Here the official trailer below explains a lot in under three minutes.

You will find a brand new Start Menu, which is centered and floating. In fact, it’s just like Windows 10X was and the taskbar is centered as well.

Hovering over the maximize button allows you to choose the arrangement of apps on the screen thanks to new snap layouts.

Teams and chat are integrated into Windows 11

Many stock apps have been redesigned, including File Explorer and the Microsoft Store (in anticipation of Android app support via the Amazon Appstore).

Windows 11 also has a brand-new Action Center, splitting Quick Settings, Notifications and a music controller into separate sections.

Microsoft Chief Product Officer Panos Panay has also confirmed that Windows 11 will be getting a new Snipping Tool.
